my new hot tub
setting up the pool
sitting on the shore
adding the ocean
filling the beach
what’s going on?
where are you going Mom?
to a distant beach
A spontaneous getaway to somewhere beautiful, warm and soothing for the soul is what I’ve been longing for in these blistering weeks with house fans aimed blasting in my face and ears day and night. Often, relaxing for me has been a posture reclined in front of the television or the laptop wherein I can peer into someone’s life and laugh, cry or tag along on journeys around the world to places I’ve never seen, never been. I’ve always had a fascination with campers; the idea of a home on wheels that can take one anywhere and everywhere has always appealed to me. Well, after many hours of watching youtube channels about traveling in RVs and all the perks of life, either as a nomad or a vacationer on the road, I decided to switch off the computer and stop hitching rides on trails that were not my own. Of course, I won’t be traveling anywhere soon at least not until I’m healed from this pestilence called cancer and when that will be, God only knows. Besides, I don’t have a camper, trailer or RV to escape in between therapy appointments every 3 weeks.
The next best thing would be an inflatable hot tub, I told myself while searching the outrageous prices on Walmart ranging from $289 to $489. and upwards! No, No and NO! My fingers rolled the mouse along the internet web isles knowing that was nowhere in our budget. Then, it occurred to me, check the dimensions of the portable capacity 4 person inflatable spa (57″ x 77″ and height 28″) which was very close to all the other air blown hot baths. I compared those dimensions with a kiddie pool that caught my attentions being 66″ x 66″ with 26″ height, only eighteen dollars! There was only a few inches difference and who needs a jet when you have feet and hands to make a splash!! Praise Jesus! Thank God, I found my portable retreat!!!
It arrived this day and after a 2 minute blow up with the shop vac, viola!! My indoor hot tub at last!! Filling it with warm water from a hose attached to the bathroom sink was simple enough, although a few helping hands with pots of hot water from the bathtub to fill my dreamy deluge, I was ready, happy! My cats sensed the excitement as they gathered around watching, waiting for the flurry of giddy chatter and pails of waters to reach it’s still. Then, closing my eyes I whispered, “Jesus, this is so cool. Thank you, father for this wonderful blessing.” I giggled every second for every inch of blessed bliss until at last, I sighed, relaxing in my own private reverie, my thoughts racing towards the shores of beaches I dream to someday venture.
My fingertips and toes wrinkled, but now dried. I am still smiling.
